| 内容記述 | Rhetoricians have long thought highly ofmetaphor as a trope, while paying less attention to metonymy. This study deals with the possible function of metonymy especially in thinking patterns. We discuss this notion referring to the relation between `strategy and tactics' corresponding to the concept of `place and space' presented by Michel de Certeau. This theorist regards rhetoric as one of the most important `tactics', particularly focusing on metaphor as rhetoric. In order to pursue the `deconstructive' role of metonymy in a socially-constructed `place', we critically discuss Certeau's insight into the dynamic aspect of rhetoric in the field of `space'. | |||||||||||
