| 内容記述 | Through a study of Japanese narratives, one scholar states that Buddhism has given the Japanese the idea that the living is superior to the dead and has the initiative in the relationship between the dead and the living through memorial services. In this article, we consider the relationship between the dead and the living in Korean narratives. In the narratives compiled during the Goryeo era when Buddhism prospered, the living take the initiative, as in the Japanese narratives. However, in the narratives of the Joseon era, when Buddhism was rejected and Confucianism was emphasized, on the contrary, the dead take the initiative. | |||||||||||
