| 内容記述 | This paper discusses Claude McKay’s first novel, Home to Harlem. McKay was born in Jamaica and moved to the U.S. where he later became one of the representative writers of the American Harlem Renaissance. Although McKay’s works are often nationalized in the American context, this paper claims that McKay acknowledges the hybrid aspects of Harlem, New York. This paper also reveals the Caribbean intellectual contributions to the Harlem Renaissance, and the complicated relationships between African-Americans and Caribbean nationals in the 1920s. It concludes that this early African-American artistic movement cannot be adequately assessed within a single national framework. | |||||||||||
