Beside of responding to the consumer view and our students' education, the aim of this study is to consider some basic characteristics of the water treatable apparel materials. First, I prepared two kinds of water treatable apparel materials and one conventional dry cleanable apparel material for dry cleaning. Next to the apparel materials, I decide to test them with two kinds of water treatable fusible interlinings, two laundry method (dry cleaning and home laundry) and two kinds of press processing (pressed and without press). Each apparel material and fusible interlinings were laundered after adhering of the fusible interlinings to the apparel material. After adhering, laundering and press process, the characteristics of each material were estimated by measuring the dimensional change rate, surface observation, adhesion test and nine kinds of feeling characteristics.As a result, I found out that the effect of laundering on characteristics of conventional apparel material (with and without water treatable fusible interlining materials) was remarkable. On the contrary, water treatable apparel material (with and without water treatable fusible interlining materials) does not show a significant change after laundering.
